The Paris Fashion Week that invited us to dream through the screen

 

  This year, the most recognized event of the fashion industry gave an unexpected twist. Because of COVID-19 The Paris Fashion Week turned out to be broadcast through digital platforms, and every haute couture fashion house used a different language and resources to connect with the audience and show them its new autumn-winter collection. If you can’t take the magic to the runway you definitely have to do it across the screen, and they did it wonderfully!

   Chanel, Dior, and Balmain were just some of the brands that made us dream from home the past July and showed us that is in the hardest times where versatility and creativity reach their highest point.

  One of the most acclaimed presentations was the one made by Dior,
where the brand’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, decided to recreate a fable in an enchanted forest full of mermaids and nymphs. In this fashion film all the designs are presented in miniatures in a trunk and each magic creature of the woods pick which of them want to wear.

   The collection consists of 36 unique pieces and the filmmaker Matteo Garrone brilliantly brought magic to the screen through this short but passionate film.

   Chanel also made its appearance in the virtual fashion show. The creative director of the brand, Virginie Viard decided to use the minimalism and timelessness as the most powerful resources in this collection, taking as inspiration the line followed by Coco Chanel since her beginning. Thirty outfits were presented by the brand in a short fashion film signed by its sobriety and elegance.

  Balmain did not stay behind, Oliver Rousteing, creative director of the french maison, presented the autumn-winter 2020-2021 collection of the brand through a travel in a boat across the River Seine. The show included a singing and dance performance and the models exhibited representative pieces from the brand’s archive as a celebration for its 75th anniversary.Definitely each fashion brand made us fantasize with its particular touch!
